John Markoff interviews Jacob Ward

This is the second in a series of audio conversations about special projects and work being undertaken by scholars at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS). The conversations are moderated by John Markoff, a former New York Times reporter, who was a Center fellow in 2017–2018 and now is a CASBS research affiliate. In this installment he speaks with Jacob Ward, a 2018–19 CASBS fellow. Jacob is in the midst of reporting a book about the effects of artificial intelligence on human decision making. He has a diverse background in science and technology reporting, including serving as editor-in-chief of Popular Science magazine as well as a television correspondent for Al-Jazeera covering science and technology. He and John discuss the techno-utopian movement and its relationship to Silicon Valley.
